There will be two pots to draw from. The 12 group winners and four best third-placed sides transferring from the UEFA Champions League are seeded. Then, the 12 Europa League group runners-up and remaining third-placed UEFA Champions League sides are unseeded.
No team can play a club from their Europa League group or football association, which means United will not be drawn against Group A winners Fenerbahce or Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Round of 32 fixtures will be played in principle on 16 and 23 February at 18:00 and 20:05 GMT, with the exact scheduling to be confirmed after Monday's draw. Seeded teams will notably be at home in the second leg, so the Reds will definitely host the first leg at Old Trafford.
