FIFA WORLD CUP DILEMMA

I think we should face the reality and tell ourselves the truth.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket is not in our reach and we are in a complicated situation.

Mathematically, we can turn things around in the qualifiers. We have to win 9.5/10 of our remaining games and hopefully the other countries will cancel each other out in our favour.

The reality is, not qualifying for the World Cup is “POssible” if you consider our terrible form in the World Cup qualifiers.

I’m excited the NFF gave Eric Chelle a two-year contract which means he will be judge with the AFCON and not the World Cup qualifiers which is looking impossible.

Anything that happens in the World Cup qualifiers should be a process to start a new building process. Target a better AFCON performance and we start building for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

However, I’m hoping and praying that Eric can get the job and deliver the World Cup ticket. It will be his greatest achievement as a football coach.

I’m wishing him well and I’m looking at a long term plan and not the short term with a World Cup beyond our reach.
